SIMFEROPOL (QHA) -

Members of Crimean Milli Firka party, famous for being opposed to Mejlis of Crimean Tatar people, were conferred with Russian state awards in Simferopol on May 11.

Russian Defense Ministry awarded 6 veterans and 3 Milli Firka members with medal “for returning Crimea”.

Following a decree, signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin, head of Milli Firka party Vasvi Abduraimov was given an Order “For services to motherland” of II degree.

“Activist and veterans of Crimean Tatar National Movement were awarded for contribution in arrangement and conducting Crimean referendum March 16 and for active information work with Crimean Tatar population of Crimea”- reads the statement.

To be noted, the ceremony was held by Vasvi Abduraimov himself.

While the majority of Crimean Tatars boycotted the referendum, that was not recognized by Western powers and Kyiv authorities, Milli Firka urged Crimean Tatars to take part in the referendum and vote in favour of joining Russia.
