MFA: Russia bears responsibility for deterioration of Savchenko’s health

Ignoring Savchenko’s immunity as a delegate to the PACE, Russia reaffirms the political rather than the legal nature of the case against her.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Ukrainian blamed Russia for deteriorating health of Nadezhda Savchenko, Ukrainian political prisoner, press-service of the agency reports.

“The Russian Federation continues to ignore the immunity of Nadezhda Savchenko as the delegate of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and thus openly violates its commitments, confirming the political rather than the legal nature of the case against Nadezhda Savchenko, Ukrainian MP,” reads the report.

According to the report, the authorities of the Russian Federation bear full responsibility for the health of Nadezhda Savchenko, under the present circumstances.

“A significant deterioration in the health of Nadezhda Savchenko due to her forced starvation in protest against the tyranny of the so-called Russian justice system, as well as the lack of qualified medical care and unsatisfactory conditions of her detention course particular concerns,” the press-service reports.

The MFA of Ukrainian called on the Russian Federation to "stop bullying Nadezhda Savchenko and other illegally detained citizens of Ukraine - Russian political prisoners and to release them immediately."
