The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine received information that another Ukrainian citizen was detained in Minsk for participating in mass protests on the "Day of Will", the Head of the Consular Department of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Vasily Kirilich stated on the air of Hromadske TV.
According to him, the Ukrainian is kept in the center for isolation of offenders in Minsk, no court decision has been made yet.
“According to preliminary information, another Ukrainian citizen is detained, and is kept in the center for isolation of offenders in Minsk. As of 17:00 [March 27 - Ed.], the decision to prosecute him has not been taken.”
The representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed that Ukraine had already sent a note to the Belarusian Foreign Ministry with a view to obtaining full information about the reasons and circumstances of the detention of Ukrainian citizens.
Earlier, QHA reported that the Leninskiy District Court of Minsk ruled to arrest a Ukrainian citizen Ruslan Tereshchenko, who was detained by Belarusian law enforcers for participating in protest demonstrations on March 25, for 15 days.
Previously, on the same day, Minsk security forces detained two employees of the CrimeaSOS organization Evgenia Andriyuk and Maria Kvitsinskaya, who fulfilled their duties within the international monitoring mission of the International Partnership for Human Rights.
Law enforcement officers blocked the mission members in the office of the Viasna organization, together with foreign journalists, local and foreign human rights activists. The total number of detainees in the room was 57 people. Later they were taken to the local police precinct, where they were held for some time. Human rights activists and journalists were released when a rally timed to coincide with the 99th anniversary of the proclamation of the Belarusian People's Republic ended in Minsk.
