Kyiv-Mohyla Academy to host a conference about Crimean Tatars

National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy to host Dec 22 a conference titled “Ukrainian Way in Respecting Rights of Crimean Tatars, the Indigenous People of Ukraine”.

Ukraine’s Presidential envoy on Crimean Tatar Issue Mustafa Jemilev wrote in Facebook.

The conference is aimed at actualization of Crimean Tatar issue for legislative activity of newly elected Verkhovna Rada as well as implementation of existing decrees by executive body.

Ukrainian Parliament March 20 adopted resolution recognizing Crimean Tatars indigenous people of Crimea.  284 deputies voted for this decision.

The resolution guarantees the protection and realization of ethnic, cultural, language, religious and other rights of Crimean Tatars and other ethnic minorities in Ukraine. 

The resolution recognizes Mejlis of Crimean Tatar people as a higher representative body of Crimean Tatar people.
