According to the Main Department for Communication of the National Police of Ukraine, a 20-year-old resident of the capital called on a cell phone to inform about an explosive device planted at the metro station in Kyiv.
After a thorough inspection, law enforcement officers have not detected any explosives or other dangerous objects at the specified station.
The young man was arrested. During questioning he said that considered his call as a joke.
Investigators have started criminal proceedings under Art. 259 (false report about threat to citizens security, destruction or damage of property objects) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The Court chose a house arrest as a preventive measure. Pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
The joker faces up to six years in prison.
