Kurultay of Crimean Tatar people appealed to the President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych to name Simferopol international airport after twice hero of the Soviet Union, test pilot Amet-Khan Sultan, informs press service of Mejlis of Crimean Tatar people.
In particular, the appeal notes:
“Huge service of the test pilot Amet-Khan Sultan is widely known. His courage, professional skills, heroism and love for his native land earned high praise and gratitude of the international community and the state of Ukraine.
Unfortunately, Crimean and Ukrainian authorities have delayed the adoption of relevant decision regarding naming Simferopol city international airport after twice Hero of the Soviet Union Amet-Khan Sultan for nearly four years for subjective reasons.”
Kurultay of Crimean Tatar people of VI convocation, supporting this broad public initiative appealed to the President to support the request of 83 heads of various organizations to sign a decree to award the name of Amet-Khan Sultan to Simferopol airport.
