Muslims of Crimea marked Kurban Bayram feast-- on of the greatest Muslim holidays-- Oct 4. Thousands of Crimeans gathered in Crimean mosques to perform Bayram prayer.
The biggest prayer, led by Crimean mufti Emirali Ablaev was performed in Simferopol. Ablaev congratulated Muslims on Kurban Bayram, calling on Muslims to do righteous deeds, help the needy and sick, visit the seniors.
After the prayer was performed, Muslims rushed to slaughter the animal, which they had chosen to sacrifice. The time to perform the sacrifice begins immediately after the prayers and lasts until sunset on the third day.
Oct 5, Crimean Tatar Kuresh tournament took place in Simferopol. The event was organized by Crimean “Kuresh” Federation, supported by state committee on interethnic relations and formally deported citizens.
Amid this year Kurban Bayram feast (Eid al-Adha), that was declared official holiday in Crimea along with another Muslim feast Oraza Bayram, was celebrated Saturday, Crimean authorities made a decision to make Monday, Oct 6, a holiday for Crimea’s state institutions.
Note: The Feast of the Sacrifice – Kurban Bayram is the one of the most important holidays in the Muslim world. It is celebrated on the tenth day of Dhu al-Hijjah, the final month of the lunar Islamic calendar.
