Svetlana Sidorkina, the Kolchenko’s lawyer, received his letter refusing to appeal for pardon, TSN reports.
She was able to meet with her client only on Wednesday, March22, after his transfer to one of the colonies in Chelyabinsk region. The lawyer told she was not allowed to visit Kolchenko for two hours under the pretext of establishing her identity.
Sidorkina also reported on application of disproportionate disciplinary penalties with regard to Oleksandr Kolchenko.
“Upon his arrival at the colony he was immediately imposed two disciplinary sanctions by placing him in a punishment isolation cell: 7 days for use of slang vocabulary and 7 more for not greeting the staff. The grounds for the application of these sanctions were completely disproportionate to the disciplinary offenses. Such an attitude towards political prisoners seems to have become a tradition,” the lawyer said.
As QHA reported earlier, Oleksandr Kolchenko was placed in the isolation cell immediately on his arrival to the colony of Chelyabinsk region.
Ukrainian film director Oleh Sentsov and civic activist Oleksandr Kolchenko were convicted with regard to a trumped up case over the alleged impending terrorist attack in Crimea, and the Russian court sentenced them to 20 and 10 years in prison respectively. On February 24, it became known that the political prisoners would be transferred from Moscow to Chelyabinsk for enduring the punishment.
