KYIV (QHA) -

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko is going to visit the main location, where the Eurovision-2017 will take place, the Deputy Head of Kyiv City State Administration Aleskey Reznikov informed, according to a QHA correspondent.

“This week, the Kyiv Mayor together with the team and all the decision-makers are to visit key locations - the arena of Eurovision-2017, i.e. the ICC, as well as the surrounding area and the subway station “Livobezhna”. Moreover, at the end of the week, the body responsible for the volume of work assigned for the city of Kiev - the City Organizing Committee - is to hold a scheduled meeting,” Reznikov said.

According to Reznikov, today the venue for Eurovision and the press center, which expects about 1,500 journalists, are clearly defined. And the other location - namely, the place of the opening ceremony, placing of euro-town and euro-club, and theoretical closing ceremony is not yet specified.

“The official events of Eurovision-2017 will not be held in Sophia Square and on the territory of St. Sophia historical and cultural reserve. On our proposal, the location of euro-town is considered on St. Khreshchatyk, in the area from Bogdan Khmelnitsky Street to Gorodetsky Street. This is one of our suggested locations, but now we are waiting for a response. It is possible that the opening ceremony may take place near the Mariinsky Palace. In addition, we are now waiting for a final decision on ceremony of handing the keys to the Eurovision Song Contest, which is to be held in late January, when the mayor of Stockholm will hand the key to the mayor of Kiev Vitali Klitschko. We plan to hold this event in the Grand Column Hall,” he informed.

Reznikov went on saying that, in general, next year Kyiv is expecting about 1.3 million tourists, 20 thousand of which are the visitors of Eurovision-2017. Total of 200 million UAH will be allocated from the city budget to hold the song contest, of them 50 million will be allocated in 2016.
