Jamala, a Ukrainian singer of Crimean Tatar descent, has flown to Sweden’s Stockholm this morning to take part in the Eurovision 2016 song contest, says a message on Jamala’s Facebook page.
“Jamala’s team is flying to Stockholm,” says the message.
It was reported earlier Jamala was chosen as Ukraine's national selection for the Eurovision song contest. The win was based on the result of viewers' and judges' votes. Jamala will represent Ukraine with a song titled '1944'.
42 countries will take part in this year’s contest, with semi-finals and final to be held in Stockholm on May 10-12 and May 14 respectively. Jamala is scheduled to perform at number 15 in a May 12 second semifinal.
