BERLIN (QHA) -

An influential German edition Welt draws attention to the fate of the Ukrainian journalist Roman Sushchenko illegally detained in Russia. On March 15, the newspaper published a story about the Kremlin political prisoner.

“The government of Ukraine is trying to liberate the reporter. President Petro Poroshenko announced that his country is ready to exchange Sushchenko for Russian fighters captured in the Donbas,” the article says.

Journalists note that the Ukrainian is writing a diary and hopes to publish the records after the release in the form of a book.

The publication also cites the journalist's biography before his unlawful arrest in Russia.

Reportedly, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has no doubt that the illegally held journalist of Ukrinform Roman Sushchenko would return home after the so-called trial in Russia.

QHA reported that special correspondent of the news agency Ukrinform in France Roman Sushchenko was arrested in Moscow on September 30, 2016 and accused of espionage in the interests of the Ukrainian state.
