SIMFEROPOL (QHA) - In October, Crimean Tatars of Romania intend to hold II World Congress of Crimean Tatars, said head of department of external relations of Mejlis Ali Khamzin to QHA.
“Crimean Tatars of Dobrogea made a proposal to hold II World Congress of Crimean Tatars in Romania and register it there as it is territory of the European Union. But this issue is still in the process of discussion”, said Khamzin.
He notes that holding the Forum on the territory of the European Union is strategically important as it will help addressing many of the issues concerning revival of Crimean Tatar nationality.
“One of the top issues for the Crimean Tatars of Romania, Bulgaria, Lithuania and Poland is a revival of their native language and launching a program in these countries aimed at learning Crimean Tatar language in Latin alphabet possibly in the framework of the nationwide educational programs. If there is a formal Crimean Tatar structure in Europe, this will allow the European Parliament to be informed about the Crimean Tatar situation and its development”, noted Khamzin.
