KYIV(QHA) -

As of now, 107 people are separatists’ hostages in Donbas according to Irina Gerashchenko, the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada and the Ukraine's representative in the Humanitarian Subgroup of the Trilateral Contact group.

“64 of them are military personnel and the rest are civilians. At the last meeting in Minsk we managed to confirm the whereabouts of 45 people on this list, and not 20, as the militants claimed earlier.”

According to Gerashchenko, as of today, 498 people are missing, 345 of them are civilians.

She went on saying that 10 political prisoners are in detention in Russia as well.

Responding to the appeals of the People's Deputy Nadezhda Savchenko, Gerashchenko said:

“A great deal of hard work is required to find a person... We also use a variety of activities seeking the release mechanisms. And if we want results, all the details should not be announced at the meetings.”

Irina Gerashchenko informs that preparations are underway for the negotiations on August 26, in Minsk.

August 8, People's Deputy of the "Fatherland" party Nadezhda Savchenko attended the rally near the Presidential Administration. Activists resented the inaction of the Ukrainian authorities and demanded the officials and the President to deal with the Ukrainians in captivity issue.

Previously, July 6, Irina Gerashchenko stated that 111 Ukrainian military and civilians remained prisoners in the occupied territories.
