WASHINGTON (QHA) -

International human rights organization Freedom House has condemned Russia's actions in Crimea on the illegal detention of lawyers Emil Kurbedinov and Nikolai Polozov, and activist Seyran Saliev.

According to authoritative defenders, the occupying Russian authorities use their security services to create in Crimea the territory, where protection of basic human rights would be impossible, Deputy President of International Programs Robert Herman informed on the through organization’s Facebook page.

“Russia should release Kurbedinov and Saliev and should begin complying with the international law on occupation. Russian forces’ repeated violation of basic legal principles has made Crimea an area where fundamental human rights no longer apply, and where there is little hope for legal challenges to the security forces’ whims.”

Earlier it was reported that January 25 FSB officers illegally detained lawyer Nikolai Polozov in Simferopol and took him to the office for questioning as a witness in the Ilmi Umerov case. The lawyer described this action of security services as kidnapping.

Lawyer Emil Kurbedinov was arrested in the morning of January 26 and charged with an offense under Article 20.3 of the RF Administrative Code (Propaganda or public display of Nazi paraphernalia or symbols, or paraphernalia or symbols of extremist organizations, or other paraphernalia or symbols, propaganda or public demonstration of which is prohibited by federal law) for the publication of in the social network of 2013. Kurbedinov pleaded guilty in part, noting that he posted the publication, was not engaged in propaganda he is charged with. The court found him guilty and arrested for 10 days.

The morning of January 26 FSB raided the home of national movement veteran Zodie Salieva and her son Seyran in Bakhchisarai. Seyran Saliev was taken to the "court". He was charged under Article 20.29 of the Administrative Code of Russia - Distributing of extremist materials, and Article 20.3 of the Administrative Code of Russia - Propaganda or public demonstration of Nazi paraphernalia or symbols, or paraphernalia or symbols of extremist organizations. The activist was arrested for 12 days under decision of "judges".
