The ceremony of laying foundation for the future mosque took place in Novopokrovka settlement of Kirovskiy district of Crimea. Funds for the construction of a mosque were allocated by Crimean Tatars living in Bursa (Turkey).
The event was attended by representatives of the Association of Culture and Mutual Assistance for Crimean Tatars of Bursa (Turkey), Mejlis of Crimean Tatar people, the Committee of Muslims of Crimea, local authorities and residents.
Head of Mejlis Refat Chubarov expressed gratitude to fellow citizens from Turkey who provided assistance with the construction:
“We always welcome the building of temples, whether Orthodox or Muslim, as people who believe in God will never wish evil to their neighbors….I hope that in the near future we will also be able to help with other projects, if we stay together.”
Bursa Association will not stop with one mosque; other Muslim temples are planned to be built in other Crimean settlements.
“We live in Bursa. It happened that I visited this settlement on Kurban Bayram holiday and I realized that local Muslims need a mosque. When I returned to Turkey, we had a meeting with our board of directors and took a decision to build a mosque here. Once we received all necessary permits, we began laying foundation, despite such a cold weather…In future we plan to build mosques in other settlements as well. We hope, that the example of the Dernek from Bursa will be followed by others and more mosques and schools will be built in Crimea,” said head of the Association of Culture and Mutual Assistance for Crimean Tatars of Bursa Adnan Syüen.
The mosque in Novopokrovka will occupy 80 square meters and will be able to receive 80-100 people at once.
The doors of a new mosque will open next year on Kurban Bayram holiday.
