SIMFEROPOL / AQMESCIT (QHA) -

During the 44th hearing of the case against the Deputy Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Ahtem Chiygoz, the first "victim" appeared who testified against him. It was a Crimean Tatar Eyvaz Umerov.

According to the lawyer Nicolay Polozov, Eyvaz Umerov expressed dislike of the leaders of the Crimean Tatar people Mustafa Dzhemilev, Refat Chubarov, as well as to Ahtem Chiygoz from the outset of interrogation. He said that he has known Chiygoz for more than 10 years.

In the course of interrogation, it was also found that the witness was engaged in political activities in opposition to Mejlis together with the current "deputy" of the State Duma Ruslan Balbec.

The witness Eyvaz Umerov stated that he has seen Ahtem Chiygoz at the rally on February 26. He said that Chiygoz was in the "corridor" formed by the police, moving between a chain of Crimean Tatar protesters, and a chain of "pro-Russian" protesters. Chiygoz called for peace and order in Russian, and gave the command to carry out the pressure in the Crimean Tatar language, saying the words "Bas" and "Ur".

According to the witness Eyvaz Umerov, these Chiygoz’s actions were aimed at organizing the riots. The witness states that he watched such actions of Ahtem Chiygoz for about two hours until he left the meeting at about 3 p.m.

The witness could not specify any other action of Ahtem Chiygoz apart from movements in the "corridor".

Thus, Eyvaz Umerov became the first of the 77 victims and 48 questioned witnesses for the prosecution who testified against Chiygoz, pointing to his actions.
