Sushchenko’s lawyer Mark Feigin suggested that the detained journalist can be released from a Russian prison and returned to Ukraine due to exchange, according to the lawyer’s Twitter. The Ukrainian law enforcement agencies are required to hand Viktor Pavlenko, the alleged employee of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service, to the Russians. Pavlenko was detained by the SBU in the city of Rivne on October 8, when trying to obtain secret military information.
“Visited Sushchenko in Lefortovo jail. In general, we expect the Kremlin to accept the exchange of Sushchenko to Viktor Pavlenko, who was arrested in Rivne.”
Previously QHA reported that, Russian law enforcers illegally held a correspondent Roman Sushchenko in the Lefortovo prison. His lawyer Mark Feigin has obtained some easing in the conditions of his client behind bars, in particular, changing the cell, and at this point the defense initiated Sushchenko’s transfer to the house arrest.
