KYIV (QHA) -

July 24, the Ukrainian Ombudsperson Lyudmila Denisova and First Vice Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Irina Gerashchenko held a meeting with the families of Ukrainian political prisoners in Kyiv. Denisova informed about the meeting on her Facebook page.
According to her, among those present at the meeting were the parents of Pavlo Grib and Valentin Vigovsky, the brother of Yevheny Panov, the wife of the military hostage in ORDLO Bohdan Pantyushenko and the representative in the cases of Dmitry Shtiblikov, Volodymyr Dudka and Oleksiy Bessarabov.

The parties exchanged information on the state of health of Oleg Sentsov, Volodymyr Balukh, Stanislav Klykh and Pavlo Grib.

The Ombudsperson also told that the Russian Federation has provided a list of visits to 51 people, 13 of them have Russian citizenship, and some do not want a meeting with Russian Ombudsperson Tatyana Moskalkova. Moreover, Moskalkova has already visited seven sailors from her own list. In this regard, Denisova requires the Russian Federation to amend the list.

“Now, according to the agreements, we want to make mirrored visits to our citizens. We again offer a "road map for the visit." I have already publicly applied to the FSB, FSIN, and the administration of the Russian President for permission to visit Ukrainian political prisoners. But they do not respond to any of our proposals. Previously, they proposed to start mirror visits in August-September. Why not to start the visits now," the Ombudsperson stated.

Denisova further noted that she would soon organize a meeting of families of Ukrainian political prisoners and representatives of the Red Cross to find ways to visit Ukrainians who are being held in Russia and temporarily occupied Crimea.

Earlier, Ukraine urged the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to take measures to clarify the state of health and conditions of detention of Ukrainian political prisoners.

Vice Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Irina Gerashchenko said that Ukraine is concerned about the complete isolation of Ukrainian political prisoners in Russia and the occupied Crimea.

QHA reported that the Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Human Rights Lyudmila Denisova appealed to the Head of the ICRC Regional Delegation to Russia, Belarus and Moldova Magne Bart with a request to visit Ukrainian political prisoners in Russia, in particular Oleg Sentsov, Oleksandr Kolchenko, Volodymyr Balukh, Stanislav Klykh and Oleksandr Shumkov.
