September, 30 the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine During held a round table on the topic: "Can journalism be qualitative in times of hybrid war and political instability." In the course of the discussions the experts presented the results of a study of the regional media.
For four years the Institute of democracies named after Philip Orlik (IDFO) has been conducting the monitoring of print and online publications. The editions were checked for the compliance with professional standards.
The study was conducted in 4 printed and 4 online publication in the cities of Dnieper, Donetsk, Zhytomyr, Lviv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Chernivtsi and Odessa.
We have recorded a large number of publications having signs of political and commercial order. Their number increases several times before the election, said the IDFO executive director Svetlana Eremenko.
Most of the above described materials are published in the cities of Donetsk (36.8%), Dnieper (25.2%) and Kharkiv (19.8%).
In addition, the experts pointed out that the media also publishes materials containing hidden advertising, especially the websites in the cities of Chernivtsi (45%), Dnieper (36.5%), Sumy (28.2%) and Donetsk (22.5%).
As QHA reported earlier, in the course of the analytical study "The Chronicles of freedom of speech - 2015", the experts have found out that the situation with freedom of speech has improved considerably in Ukraine as compared to the 2014 year.
