Secretary General’s Special Representative on migration and refugees Ambassador Tomáš Boček stressed that the EC is obliged to support the Republic of Turkey in providing education for migrant children:
“The Council of Europe should assist the Turkish authorities to develop effective policies to prevent refugee and migrant children working and to encourage their attendance at school.”
Apart from the education issue, Boček spoke about the improvement of living conditions for the refugees in Turkey. In particular he told about the need to attract the resources of the Development Bank to solve this problem.
Turkey is now a country that has received the largest number of refugees in the world. The approximate figure reaches 3.1 million people.
