STRASBOURG (QHA) -

The European Parliament condemns the unprecedented level of human rights violations, most notably the Crimean Tatars, and severe restrictions on the freedoms of expression, association and peaceful assembly, press service of the European Parliament reports.

“The Russian Federation, as an occupying power, must bear responsibility for safety of the whole population of the peninsula, and investigate effectively, impartially and transparently all cases of disappearances, torture and human rights abuses by the police and paramilitary forces active in the Crimean peninsula since February 2014,” reads the statement.

The MEPs also condemned the Russian annexation of the Crimean peninsula.
