After the end of the holy month of Ramadan the Eid al-Fitr begins. On June 25 Kyiv Muslims celebrated this blessed day. The festivity was organized by the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People and Spiritual Administration for Muslims of Crimea AR.

The Fastbreaking Eid celebrating began with the morning prayers in the Kyiv mosques.

About 400 representatives of Kyiv Muslim community gathered in the leased “Inkom” business center premises. 

The conference hall where the prayer was held was traditionally divided into male and female parts.

After the prayer the Crimean Tatars gathered for a festive breakfast served in the business center. The Crimeans, who have to be away from their home, met at the same table to celebrate the end of the holy month of Ramadan.

 

The Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People Refat Chubarov spoke about the importance of the fasting of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr holiday for Muslims, in particular for the Crimean Tatars, and congratulated all those who profess Islam in Ukraine and other countries:

“Many people, congratulating each other with Eid al-Fitr holiday expressed the hope that the next holidays and a fast we will celebrate in our villages in Crimea. We live here with the hope of Allah and are doing everything to improve the process of returning home. I congratulate all who professes Islam on Eid al-Fitr holiday. I wish everyone, first of all, to stay true to yourselves, to your close ones and to the Almighty. And then he will graciously give health and success".

The Crimean Tatar leader Mustafa Dzhemilev reminded about the extremely hard situati in the Crimea, he stressed that all actions of Crimean Tatar activists in the mainland Ukraine are intended to help compatriots and to the early liberation of the Crimea from the invaders.

“Of course, this occupation should not continue any longer. Together with our people and democracy, we will save our homeland. After many years our children and grandchildren will ask their father, grandfather: “What have you done to save our homeland from the occupation?" It is the duty of every Muslim, of a citizen and of a Crimean Tatar to do everything to save the homeland”.

In honor of Eid al-Fitr the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Crimea AR together with the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People held a festive event in Kyiv on June 26 at the Expocenter of Ukraine. The celebration included officials' speeches, reading poems dedicated to the homeland and the holiday, meals with Crimean Tatar cuisine, competitions and quizzes for women, men and children. Anyone could take part in the holiday.
