Kirovskiy district (QHA) - The meeting organized against the controversial book “Memory book of Eastern Crimea. Asked to remember” which justifies deportation of Crimean Tatars from Crimea has come to an end.

The participants demanded to dismiss head of Kirovskiy district state administration Oleg Gordeyev and deprive the author of the book of title ‘Honorable citizen of Kirovskiy district’.
“I consider actions of Kirovskiy district administration not wise. They have allocated 15,5 thousand UAH from the state budget for publication of this book. They have also appealed to heads of village councils to provide support and financial contribution to publication. At the same time they haven’t reviewed it and haven’t attracted anybody to review it impartially”, said 1st vice-head of Mejlis of Crimean Tatar people Refat Chubarov.
It should be noted, criminal case was opened against the author of the book Vladimir Shirshov, on Part 1 of Article 161 of the Criminal Code -inciting ethnic hatred.
As reported earlier, a book called “Memory book of Eastern Crimea “Asked to remember” that justifies deportation of the Crimean Tatar people from Crimea in 1944 was published in Kirovskiy district of Crimea on the funds from the district budget.
According to its authors, Vladimir and Maria Shirshovs, the book should attain the status of a textbook. With that purpose, the book was disseminated in schools and libraries of Kirovskiy district.
