The number of marriages in the annexed Crimea decreased in 2016. According to the Crimea State Statistics Service, in the period from January to August, the number of registered marriages dropped to 8.1 thousand. To compare, the same period last year, 9.9 thousand marriages were concluded.
However, the number of divorces increased on the peninsula. This year 3995 marriages have been dissolved, compared to 3659 of the previous year.
A decrease in fertility is recorded in Crimea as well. 15186 children were born in January-August on the peninsula, which is 353 less than last year.
Earlier it was reported that an expert in study of the Ukrainian Institute of extremism Bogdan Petrenko said that the "Russian world" has stimulated a decrease in family value among the Crimean people.
