The battalion, which is to liberate the Crimea in future, will consist of all Crimean residents willing to join this unit, said the Coordinator of the Crimean Civil Blockade Lenur Islyamov.
Currently, we are forming a battalion that will liberate the peninsula and will be "woven" of the people that hail from the Crimea. Somehow, the media has started spreading the statements alleging the Crimean Tatars are forming their own battalion - some Islamic, ISIL, or something else. But this is a Crimean battalion. Basically, it consists of the Crimean Tatars and it is named after the Crimean Tatar. Why can’t we have our own battalion and fight for our land? says Islyamov.
According to him, the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People is working on diplomatic methods of the Crimean de-occupation. The Crimean Civil Blockade showed that the Crimean Tatars are serious and ready to fight for their land.
The problem is that the Ukrainian society is not ready to create a similar unit. For example, the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said earlier that the Ukrainians have long feared the Crimean Tatars, and it cost him a lot, believes Islyamov.
In general, this situation has been triggered by the previous policy of the state, as well as betrayals of the officials. The Crimean Blockade was also first taken with similar skepticism, but in time the opinion about the feasibility of such measures has changed for the better. The same should happen with the battalion, said Lenur Islyamov.
