In the near future, an exchange is planned of former servicemen of the Ukrainian Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Baranov and Maksim Odintsov, who were convicted on February 13 for treason and desertion, for Ukrainian prisoners of the Kremlin, according to Valentin Rybin, the lawyer of the convicts.

Rybin noted that he had several similar cases and now "the formalities are being coordinated."

"An exchange is possible in the near future," he said, specifying that all details about the exchange format and the persons exchanged for Odintsov and Baranov will be known already after the exchange.

Reference: Oleksandr Baranov and Maksim Odintsov were found guilty of treason and desertion and were sentenced to 13 and 14 years of imprisonment respectively.

The servicemen are suspected of desertion and high treason. Thus, the former junior sergeant and ensign, while serving in one of the military units stationed on the territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, during the occupation of the peninsula did not fulfill the order to arrive at their new duty station and stayed in the occupied territory, thereby defecting, in connection with than they were declared wanted. Later they signed contracts on military service in the RF Armed Forces.
