Simferopol (QHA) - Crimean Tatars are ready to defend ATR channel if it is still deprived of air. Elzara Islyamova, General Director of ATR channel said this to QHA news agency. As informed, a meeting of the National Council of Ukraine on Television and Radio is to take place in Kyiv, at which a competition for the right to use the analogue broadcast frequencies in Simferopol and Simferopol district will be held. The first Crimean Tatar channel ATR broadcasts at this frequency. The competition is connected to the fact that ATR’s license for this frequency had expired. “We are waiting, but I think that people will undertake actions if necessary. There are various public organizations and so on… but we see that people will not accept the loss of their channel. And we defend our rights in terms of legislation. We will show that during the two years we have become the best TV channel in Crimea. And the fact that we broadcast for Crimean Tatars is supported by the State, as channels that cover culture, traditions etc. of national minorities are in a priority position. The law is on our side,” – commented Elzara Islyamova. Presumably, the meeting of the National Council of Ukraine on Television and Radio will be held in the end of November.
