Crimean Tatar flag was placed on the top of Roman-Kosh, Crimea’s highest mountain (1545 metres).

“We climb this mountain every year. This year we dedicated it to 70th anniversary of deportation of Crimean Tatar people of 1944. We placed Crimean Tatar flag on the top of the mountain. Russian flag was put there earlier, but we placed our national flag little higher”- one of the activists said.

This year Crimea marks 70th anniversary of deportation of 1944. Number of traditional mourning events to be held, among them all-Crimean mourning rally on May 18.

Crimean Tatar activists, among them youth and old people, have already climbed one of Crimea’s highest mountain Chatyr-Dag, commemorating victims of the deportation.
