Crimean Koran readers took part in All-Russian competition

Unfortunately, this time Crimeans have not taken prize-winning places.

The annual All-Russian competition of Koran readers among men "Living Tradition" was held Nov 28-29 in the city of Saratov.

Crimea was represented by students of Azov madrasah of higher Islamic studies of Muslim Spiritual Administration of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, according to the Crimean Mufti press service.

The participants competed in several categories: rote knowledge of the 3, 5, 10 last juzes and half of the Koran. The main evaluative criteria were the beauty of reading and the correct pronunciation of Koran scripture. The jury was composed of recognized experts in Quranic sciences.

This was the first time Crimean reciters of Koran took part in such a competition and, although having not taken up prize-winning places, they  gained a great experience, says the Muslim Board.

I35 reciters of the Islamic Holy Book from 10 regions of the Russian Federation took part in the competition.
