The Kremlin-controlled Crimean Prosecutor's Office has launched a preliminary investigation into the creation of "Asker" Battalion, which is to be based in Kherson region, Ukraine, "Crimea’s Prosecutor" Natalia Poklonskaya told RIA Novosti.
- The creation and operation of similar units is being checked. If the evidence is collected, the preliminary investigation bodies will take relevant decisions, said Poklonskaya.
She went on saying she is going to open "separate proceedings" against a leader of the Crimean Tatar people Mustafa Dzhemilev over his participation in the creation of "Asker" Battalion.
SUMMARY: As of March, 28 the Crimean Tatar Battalion "Asker" jointly with the State Border Service of Ukraine have started patrolling the checkpoints at the administrative border with occupied Crimea.
