SIMFEROPOL / AQMESCIT (QHA) -

The lawyer of one of the defendants in Ali Asanov’ case, Eden Semedlyaev, has not been notified of the court session start time, which was held on October 4.

“The trial participants were informed two days before, but Ali Asanov and Mustafa Degermendzhi learned that they would be brought to the Central District Court of Simferopol only in the evening. I have not been notified at all, and the court-appointed lawyer was invited. The Court once again violated Part 4 of Art. 231 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Russian Federation saying "The parties shall be notified of the place, date and time of the court session not later than 5 days before the start," Edem Semedlyaev wrote on his Facebook page.

After confusion with the consideration of the filed motions, the court adjourned until 7 October.

The lawyer also said that Ali Asanov was able to communicate with his children during the court session.

Six persons are charged with involvement in mass riots during a rally held outside the Crimean Supreme Council on February 26, 2014. Three of them, Ahtem Chiygoz, Mustafa Degermenzhi and Ali Asanov, are being held in Simferopol’s pre-trial detention center No.1, while the other three, Eskender Kantemirov, Arsen Yunusov and Eskender Emirvaliyev, have been released on bail and are awaiting trial.

On August 13, the Court of Appeals considered the appeal against the division of the "February 26 case". However, the judges refused to grant the prosecutor's and the lawyers’ appeals.
