The abolition of the "Crimean Federal District" will serve as a pretext for stripping the territory up to the standards of the "Russian world," the head of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Refat Chubarov shared his opinion on Facebook.

“The today’s abolition of the Crimean Federal District, and the inclusion  of the "Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol" into the Southern Federal District shows that the top Russia’s political leadership has prepared for the occupied Crimea the fate of the other, actually Russian, territories that serve as objects to spread a single unified state policy.  Implementing the latter, the variety of ethnic or historical, cultural or linguistic features will serve as a cover-up only until the territory is fully cleansed to the 'Russian world' standards,” Chubarov wrote.

It was reported earlier that the so-called Crimean Federal District (temporarily occupied territory of Crimea) was abolished as an independent unit and became a part of the Southern Federal District under Putin's decree on July 28.
