According to the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, the representatives of the Azov-Black Sea Regional Directorate, as well as the officers of the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) and the State Fiscal Service have signed a relevant Agreement with the activists of the Civil Blockade of Crimea (CBC) during a joint meeting at the location area of the Kherson Border Detachment.
Technically, the Agreement is supported by the Law of Ukraine ‘On participation of citizens in public order and state border protection', as well as the Instructions ‘On using public forces for the protection of the state borders.'
At the meeting, the CBC activists initiated the creation of a special Asker unit, which is expected to start practical cooperation with the border guards after the completion of legal formalities.
However, before starting joint work with the border guards the activists will have to undergo special training, including legal one, on the basis of the ‘Chonhar’ Border Service Division and pass tests to be admitted to the services.
The new voluntary defenders of the borders will follow the work of the official service, maintain public order, as well as provide citizens with information and consulting services.
In the case of detecting violations on the border the activists will have to transfer the appropriate information to the management of the border units assigned to the site.
According to a clause of the Agreement, it is prohibited to install tents or other unauthorized constructions near the checkpoints at the administrative border.
