The highest legislative chamber of the State of California adopted a resolution on the celebration of the Ukraine’s Day of Independence, reported sobkor.net.
Thus, as of now Ukraine's Independence Day celebrated on August 24 will be an official holiday on the territory of the State of California as well.
The document, supported by Californian senators, tells about a great contribution of Americans of the Ukrainian origin to the political, economic and cultural development of the state. California lawmakers also noted Ukraine's aspiration to democratic values.
Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States, Valery Chaly attended the voting for the resolution and thanked the California Senate for voicing support for Ukraine.
