September 16, 2015. The idea to establish the museum has been introduced by Alina Pevna, head of the Department for Culture and Tourism in Donetsk Regional State Administration, at the briefing in Kyiv.
“It is essential to immortalize our defenders heroic deed. I think that the museum should be established on the Karachun mountain, the place where the most severe fighting took place,” Alina Pevna said.
According to her, there are only two Lenin statues left in the territory of Donetsk region controlled by Ukrainian authorities.
“As of April 1, 2015, only 2 of 36 Lenin statues in Donetsk region were left in Volodarsky district. They are expected to be dismantled by the end of September,” said Alina Pevna.
She also noted that the Department for Culture and Tourism in Donetsk Regional State Administration is now establishing from the scratch, since almost all previous management went over to the DPR (so-called Donetsk People's Republic).
