‘Asker’ soldiers to arrive at Crimean border

The situation has been agreed upon with Chairman of the State Border Service Viktor Nazarenko.

In an interview with ZIK an activist of the Crimean civil blockade Rustem Ablâtif told about the creation of a public unit "Asker."

-The Chairman of the Ukraine’s State Border Service Viktor Nazarenko has unveiled the protocol signed between the Ukraine's State Service and the blockade command staff. According to the document, the borderland will be under public control. The Law of Ukraine allows creation of public organizations to protect the state border. Currently, this unit is being registered. It will be called "Asker" that means “warrior” in Crimean Tatar. Close to February 1, the members of public unit will enter the territory of checkpoints in order to control the border crossing jointly with customs officers and border guards. The unit will include about 35 people Crimean citizens who will be on 24-hour duty at the border, said Ablâtif.
