For the first time in Ukraine, an Honorary Consulate of Spain is opened, in Yalta.
According to the Embassy of Spain, the opening of an Honorary Consulate meets the principles of the Spanish Government to expand the network of its diplomatic and consular establishments in Ukraine for further strengthening relations with Ukraine as well as for better provision of consular assistance to Spanish people abroad.
The opening of the Honorary Consulate in Lviv is in plans, said in the Embassy.
The chairman of the Council of Ministers of Crimea Anatoly Mogilev congratulated the Ambassador of Spain to Ukraine Jose Rodriguez Moyano with the opening of the Consulate of the Kingdom of Spain in Yalta. He expressed confidence that the opening of the Consulate will serve an additional incentive for strengthening and development of cooperation between Ukraine and Spain.
Further, Anatoly Mogilev proposed to establish sister-city relations between Crimea and the Spanish
Jose Rodriguez Moyano supported the initiative and stressed the potential of the development of inter-regions relations in economic and cultural spheres. In addition, the Ambassador noted that Spanish business is interested to invest in Crimean tourism, energy and agricultural sectors.
Honorary Consul of Spain in Yalta Alexander Balhovitin noted that visas will not be issued in the Consulate, there still be a need to go to special centers in Odessa and Kyiv for them.
