SIMFEROPOL/AQMESCIT (QHA) -

The Deputy Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People Akhtem Chiyhoz has being questioned during the 147th court session in the so-called Supreme Court of Crimea on July 25. Akhtem is a defendant in “case” on organizing riots during the rally on February 26, 2014, Nikolai Polozov reported.

“The interrogation of Akhtem Chiygoz is held in Supreme Court of Crimea today”

The interrogation is carried out via videoconferencing, according to the Head of the Central Electoral Committee of the Kurultai of the Crimean Tatar People Zair Smedlyaev.

Reference: Akhtem Chiygoz was detained in January 2015 in the Crimea, on accusations of organizing and participating in mass riots on February 26, 2014. Then, outside the building of the Supreme Council of Crimea, a rally was held in support of the territorial integrity of Ukraine. He has been detained for more than two years in the remand prison. The Chiygoz case is considered by the court within the framework of a falsified "case of February 26".

In his QHA interview Russian lawyer Mark Feigin said about two possible ways to release of Akhtem Chiyhoz. The first way is to transfer Akhtem Chiyhoz to serve his sentence in Ukraine under the convention on the extradition of prisoners. Feigin considers exchange of Akhtem Chyihoz on the Russian military detained in Ukraine as the second way to free Chyihoz.
