SAINT-PETERSBURG (QHA) -

The Petrogradsky District Court in St. Petersburg (Russia) ruled to arrest activist Asan Mumdzhi, who raised the Ukrainian flag and was detained on June 2 for nine days, the "Group of Assistance to Detained in SPb" reported on Facebook.

The activist was arrested during a rally in support of Ukrainian political prisoner Oleg Sentsov.

“The court found Mumdzhi guilty of organizing an uncoordinated public event (Part 2, Article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses) ... Mumdzhi together with Olga Smirnova and Maria Kozhevatova was detained on June 2 near the building of the Petrograd court when they were standing with the Ukrainian flag and a poster in support of Oleg Sentsov,” the report said.

Activist Maria Kozhevatova was arrested for 15 days, and she went on a hunger strike.

The Moscow authorities did not give their consent to holding a rally in support of Oleg Sentsov within the global campaign.

On June 1 and 2, a global action was held in support of Oleg Sentsov. The actions took place in 42 foreign and 29 Ukrainian cities.

Reference: Oleg Sentsov started the hunger strike on May 14, demanding the Russian authorities to release 64 Ukrainian political prisoners. On May 29, the Ukrainian filmmaker agreed to supportive therapy.
