Karadag is considered the oldest ‘sleeping’ volcano in the world out of 10 thousand known for their inertness, reports Touristic Ukraine edition.
Part of the volcano had disappeared in the depths of the Black Sea some 150-170 million years ago.
To be noted, Karadag means the ‘black mountain’ from Turkish and Crimean Tatar languages.
The mountain really looks black in comparison with the blue and grey and bright limestone adjacent ridges. Scientists hope that Karadag will never wake up.
