Draft Resolution on the appeal by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to the United Nations, the European Parliament, Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, world leaders and all members of the international community regarding honoring the memory of victims of Crimean Tatar genocide and condemning the violations by the Russian Federation of the rights and freedoms of the Crimean Tatar people has been registered under number 4476.

During the Parliament Session, a report on the subject is to be delivered by the Ukraine’s MP and Head of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People, Refat Chubarov.

As QHA reported earlier, May 18 Kyiv and the whole Ukraine is to hold a number of events: actions and mass rallies, thematic lessons in schools, thematic initiatives by social activists dedicated to the 72th anniversary of deportation of the Crimean Tatar people.

May 18, 1944 the Soviet authorities conducted mass deportation of the Crimean Tatars from Crimea, accusing them of collaborating with the Nazis. About 238 thousand Crimean Tatars were evicted and 46%, mostly the elderly, women and children were killed in special settlements in the first years of deportation.
