The Crimean Tatar delegation organized a side-event within the framework of the 16th session of the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues, a member of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, director of the agency "Crimean News" Gayana Yuksel informed on her Facebook page.
Participants of the event discussed violations of human rights, violent policies against Crimean Tatar youth and other violations of international law in the Russian-occupied peninsula.
“The first side-event, organized yesterday by the Crimean Tatar delegation in the framework of the 16th session of the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues.
The focus is on human rights violations in the occupied Crimea, the violation of freedom of speech, the pressure and persecution of Crimean Tatars, forcible settlement, and violent policies against Crimean Tatar youth.”
The organizers of the event were the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, the Crimean Tatar Resource Center, the Estonian Institute for Human Rights, the Estonian development cooperation, the Permanent Mission of Ukraine to the United Nations and the Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine.
