KYIV (QHA) -

Sergii Rybalka, head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Financial Policy and Banking, says he does not rule out the nationalization of PrivatBank.

After a closed meeting of the Vekrhovna Rada Committee with the participation of Valerie Gontareva,  Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine, he said:

“With regard to PrivatBank, we were informed that depending on situation the PrivatBank will be either controlled by (private individual – Ed.) or nationalized. There is also a plan of PrivatBank improvement, but it depends on whether the owners will pump money into the bank.”

However, Oleh Serga, a spokesman for PrivatBank, said:

“PrivatBank is stable, operates at a profit, meets all operating standards, and there is not and cannot be a reason to talk about its nationalization.”
