WASHINGTON (QHA) -

“The US does not recognize Crimea as part of Russia and will insist on its return to Ukraine,” TASS quotes Evelyn Farkas, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Russia, Ukraine and Eurasia, as saying.

When asked whether the US Department of State considers the annexation of Crimea by Russia as a “resolved case,” Farkas said she did not think so.

According to her, international community does not recognize and condemns the annexation and ‘a UN resolution was adopted on this issue’.

“The problem remains unsolved, so the United States will continue to apply pressure on Russia, and mainly by means of sanctions,” said Farkas.
