Yesterday, July 27, the US State Department Spokesman John Kirby, made the corresponding statement at the briefing according to "Voice of America".
- We will not accept the redrawing of borders by force in the 21st century. Sanctions related to Crimea will remain in place as long as the occupation continues. We again call on Russia to end that occupation and return Crimea to Ukraine, he said.
Kirby stressed that Washington's position remains unchanged: Crimea is a part of Ukraine, and will always remain such. According to him, the State Department is concerned about Moscow's statements on increasing of Russian troops in the south-western borders of the Russian Federation and Crimea.
- We believe that it is contrary to our efforts aimed at ending the violence and de-escalation of tension in the east of Ukraine in accordance with the commitments made by Russia, Kirby stated.
the Russian Federation occupied Crimea in February-March 2014, calling the falsified referendum of March 16 the will of the Crimean people about joining the Russian Federation. Most of the world did not recognize the Russian Crimea. For Ukraine, Crimea remains temporarily occupied territory.
