Russian formal recognition of "documents" issued by the self-proclaimed authorities of the terrorist organizations "DPR" and "LPR" runs counter to the objectives of the Minsk negotiation process, the US Embassy in Ukraine informs on Twitter.
“Russian recognition of documents from separatist "republics" troubling and inconsistent with agreed goals of Minsk,” the department noted.
Previously, the Russian President Vladimir Putin has actually recognized the identity documents issued by the terrorists "DPR" and "LPR" as valid under his decree of February 18. With these pseudo-documents, the citizens living in the militant-occupied territory of Ukraine, are permitted to enter the territory of the Russian Federation. Recognition of "document" was called temporary - "for the period of a political settlement in certain regions of Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Ukraine on the basis of the Minsk agreements."
Ukraine's Foreign Ministry stated that recognizing the illegitimate "authorities" in the Donbas, Russia is seeking to violate the sovereignty of Ukraine.
