A group of US military experts sent recommendations for the expansion of Ukraine's armament in the fight against the Russian aggressor to the White House and the Pentagon.
Assessing the needs of the Ukrainian army the authors of the recommendations set consider that US should provide anti-tank weapons to Ukraine as soon as possible, Chastime reports.
Specialist for international studies of security and military strategy, the President of the Potomac Foundation (USA), Dr. Phillip Karber, believes that Ukraine's victory in the war with Russia is important for the whole West.
“It's time to look at the future of Ukraine with all seriousness. This war lasts more than three years already. There is a line until which Ukraine is able to withstand without the help of the West. And if they [Ukraine - Ed.] fail, either due to internal problems, or to lack of ammunition, instability will cover the entire Eastern Europe”.
Earlier, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Andriy Parubiy during his recent visit to the US Parliament said that the issue of providing US lethal weapons to Ukraine still remained a challenge and was discussing at the Pentagon.
“It (the issue of lethal weapons for Ukraine - Ed.) is still on the agenda and debated. And if earlier the decision was negative, today the issue remains open ... The allocation of weapons is discussed, it has both technical and symbolic significance for enhancing cooperation between Ukraine and the United States”.
The President Petro Poroshenko, who recently had a meeting with US Secretary of Defense James Mattis in the Pentagon, noted that the United States intended to expand military-technical cooperation with Ukraine.
Earlier QHA reported that President Poroshenko stated that the meeting with President Trump had been successful, and the United States supported the territorial integrity of Ukraine and favoured continuation of reforms in the country.
