BAĞÇASARAY/BAKHCHISARAI (QHA) - Chairman of the Majlis of Crimean Tatar nation Mustafa Cemil has met with the second secretary of the US Embassy Steven Page in Bağçasaray on May 29, 2013 in order to talk about topical points to prepare holding of the International Forum on Crimean Tatar problem as well as the current situation in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Ukraine. This is informed by the Majlis press service.
In particular, the Majlis head told in detail about mass events conducted in Crimea this May. The Crimean Tatar leader paid his special attention to attempts of the autonomy’s authorities to restrict activities of the Majlis of Crimean Tatar nation to conduct both the Hıdırlez Crimean Tatar folk holiday and the all-Crimean mourning meeting timed to the 69th Deportation of the Crimean Tatars from Crimea.
“Moreover, the power has issued the challenge to disorientate the Crimean Tatars and to demonstrate it has no any conflict with our nation, and it is a conflict with the Majlis”, - M. Cemil stated.
He also commented the scandalous statements of the Russia’s Consul General in Aqmescit V. Andryeyev to the Crimean Tatar people’s address by request of the US Embassy’s representative.
Addressing to the Chairman of the Majlis, the second secretary Steven Page confirmed the US Ambassador John Tefft is interested to promote actively the idea to held the International Forum on the Crimean Tatar issues and he attach importance to preserve the rich cultural traditions of the Crimean Tatar nation and a settlement of its political problems.
