The official representative of the US States Department Mark Toner reported that the official Washington supports all the Ankara's actions in the framework of military operation Euphrates Shield.
At the same time, however, he went on saying that cooperation with the PYD organization [Kurdish terrorists in Syria - Ed.] in combating ISIL still continues.
Recently, the Turkish diplomat Mevlut Cavusoglu reminded the International community that Turkey will not accept a political transition process in Syria with the participation of Bashar al-Assad. The official Washington is in full solidarity with the Turkish government on this issue and does not consider Assad a legitimate leader of Syria.
“We believe Assad has lost legitimacy, but the Syrians themselves should take the final decision on the issue,” Mark Toner said.
The "Euphrates Shield" is a joint military operation carried out by the special operation groups with the Turkish Armed Forces and the Air Forces of the international coalition against ISIL terrorist organization in Syria, which started in the early morning of August, 24. The main objectives of the offensive are to clear the frontier regions from IS terrorists, ramp up the border security, provide support for the territorial integrity in Syria, as well as to prevent the creation of so-called "Kurdish corridor” on the southern border.
