U.S. Reps. Sander Levin (D-MI), Marcy Kaptur (D-OH), Michael Fitzpatrick (R-PA), Mike Quigley (D-IL), and Bill Pascrell (D-NJ), all members of the Congressional Ukrainian Caucus, introduced a bipartisan resolution Monday calling for the release of Nadiya Savchenko, a Ukrainian fighter pilot and Member of the Ukrainian Parliament.

The resolution stresses that the Ukrainian is being held in custody illegally. What makes it symbolic is the fact that it was introduced a few days prior to the arrival of Russian President Vladimir Putin to the UN General Assembly.

A first hearing in Savchenko case took place in the town of Donetsk of the Rostov region on September 22.
